Island Gurl: Nature’s Touch, Island Glow
Island Gurl is a skin and haircare brand created for Black women living on the Caribbean coasts of Central America. Rooted in identity, pride, and heritage, this branding project focused on creating a vibrant, culturally resonant visual identity that honors island life and the beauty of melanin-rich skin and textured hair.
The logo design features silhouettes of women embedded within the map outline, representing unity, empowerment, and the diversity of Black women. Earthy, sunset-toned colors reflect the natural elements of the islands — sand, sea, sun, and soil — while the soft, flowing typeface evokes warmth and femininity.
Empowering Packaging
Product packaging combines soft mint green, warm earth tones, and pops of orange to create contrast and energy. The packaging layout is both functional and visually striking, incorporating custom illustrations of women, affirmation typography, and organic shapes that mimic waves and movement, symbolizing freedom and fluidity.
